A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 16-17-680, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE PURCHASE OF NONFERROUS METALS, SO AS TO REQUIRE ALL TRANSACTIONS TOTALING OVER ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THE PURCHASE OF NONFERROUS METALS TO BE PAID BY CHECK.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 16-17-680(B) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 260 of 2008, is further amended to read:

"(B)    A secondary metals recycler may only may purchase nonferrous metals for cash consideration from a fixed location. In addition, all transactions totaling over one hundred dollars for the purchase of nonferrous metals must be paid by check."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
