VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE PELION HIGH SCHOOL GOLF TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE 2011 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that the Pelion High School Panthers captured their first state golf championship on Tuesday, May 10, 2011; and
Whereas, in a sport that requires strategy, skill, and precision, the Pelion High team bested all comers in total scores in the Class AA state bout, held at the Indian River Golf Course; and
Whereas, during the two-day event, team members Cody Proveaux, Sam Jackson III, Caleb Proveaux, Phillip Shumpert, Nic Ferrara, Weston Sharpe, and Tim Jackson displayed the form that earned them the top prize; and
Whereas, adding further luster to an already scintillating season for the Panthers, Cody Proveaux was named individual state champion for the second consecutive year; and
Whereas, Head Coach Robbie Randall and his assistant coaches, Parrish Deans and Beth Harrison, who molded their players into championship golfers and taught them lessons they will remember for a lifetime, were not surprised to see the Panthers nab the trophy because these players had the grit and determination necessary to get the job done; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in commending the Pelion High School Panthers for their successful season and state championship, and the members expect to hear of further accomplishments by these fine athletes in the years to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Pelion High School golf team for its outstanding season and for winning the 2011 Class AA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jean Haggard and Coach Robbie Randall of Pelion High School.
