A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF ELEASE GALLISHAW BRADFORD OF SUMTER COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Elease Gallishaw Bradford of Sumter County on October 13, 2011, at the venerable age of ninety; and

Whereas, born April 26, 1921, in Lee County, Elease Gallishaw Bradford was the older of two children born to Hammitte and Sadie Gallishaw; and

Whereas, raised in a Christian home, she was a lifelong member of Mount Olive AME Church, where she served faithfully in various ministries, including the Senior Choir, Stewardess Board #3, Usher Board, Burroughs Missionary Society, Twelve Tribes of Israel, Jubilee Choir (president), and YPD Youth Guild (director). She was also a steward; and

Whereas, Mrs. Bradford was educated in the public schools of Lee County, maturing into an honest, outspoken, caring, loving woman who always inspired and encouraged others; and

Whereas, she was united in holy matrimony to James Bradford II, now deceased. The Lord blessed their union with eight fine children, who gave their parents the joy of numerous grandchildren; and

Whereas, she leaves to cherish her memory daughters Sadie Bradford, Ella Mae Martin, and Carolyn Mickens; sons James III, Elijah, Warren, and Samuel Bradford; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Elease Gallishaw Bradford of Sumter County, and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to James Bradford III for the family.
