VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE HANAHAN HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM ON A SUPERLATIVE SEASON AND TO SALUTE THESE ATHLETES AND THEIR COACHES ON WINNING THE 2012 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Hanahan Hawks swooped in on their second straight Class AA state championship on February 11, 2012, capping a season of growth with a 40-34 win over Emerald at Dreher High School; and
Whereas, as jubilant Hawk fans cheered them on, Hanahan rolled through the tournament, turning up the pressure on Emerald after a slow start and not relinquishing the lead after they grabbed it. As the Hawks accepted their trophy, supporters began making plans to watch their team bring home another one next year; and
Whereas, over a successful 21-7 season, the Hanahan team grew increasingly more aware of how to put their talents to use and how to forge winning strategies implemented with a marked determination; and
Whereas, the Hawks put their agility, strength, and perseverance to the test in the title contest, nailing a pin less than thirty-five seconds into the first round of the 120-pound contest that handed Hanahan an insurmountable 40-24 advantage and turned the final two matches into mere formality; and
Whereas, such an impressive performance is not achieved by accident. Head Coach Ray Adkins, ably assisted by Coach Josh Harpe, masterfully molded his team into championship form, enabling the Hawks to hoist the title trophy once again despite their having lost seven grapplers from last year to graduation; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pleasure in recognizing the young athletes of the Hanahan High School wrestling team and anticipate with interest learning of their continued praiseworthy achievements. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Hanahan High School wrestling team on a superlative season and salute these athletes and their coaches on winning the 2012 Class AA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Ric Raycroft and Head Coach Ray Adkins.
