A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE CARRIE MAE RUTH PRIESTER, A NATIVE OF HAMPTON COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Carrie Mae Ruth Priester, a native of Hampton County, will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on November 16, 2012; and

Whereas, born on November 16, 1912, to Jake and Mary Ruth of Hampton County, young Carrie Mae came into this world in the early part of the twentieth century, and she has been witness to many of the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, she and her husband, Lawrence Priester (now deceased), raised a fine family of five children, Mary, Elizabeth, Christine, Lawrence, Jr., and Willie, who have given their parents the joy of thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild; and

Whereas, a woman of faith, Mrs. Priester serves her God as a loyal member of Antioch Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and served as president of the missionary board for many years, among other activities. She is grateful to the Lord for blessing her with one hundred wonderful years; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday and joins with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Carrie Mae Ruth Priester, a native of Hampton County, on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday, and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and continued health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Carrie Mae Ruth Priester.
