A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BILLY RAY ARFLIN, JR., FRIENDSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT FIREFIGHTER, UPON BEING NAMED THE 2010 ANDERSON COUNTY FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR, AND TO EXPRESS DEEP GRATITUDE FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that Billy Ray Arflin, Jr., Friendship Fire Department firefighter, has been named the 2010 Anderson County Firefighter of the Year; and

Whereas, a veteran of forty years' service with the Friendship Fire Station, Mr. Arflin is a faithful member of his volunteer firefighting force and is deservedly admired and respected by his colleagues; and

Whereas, accepting and fulfilling his responsibilities with professionalism and excellence, he is available to help no matter what the task, consistently responding to calls, training, and fundraisers with an upbeat attitude, although he is battling cancer; and

Whereas, the commitment of this man of integrity and humility to firefighting is as inspiring to the citizens of Anderson County at large as it is to his colleagues, and all who know him are gratified to learn that Mr. Arflin's health treatments are meeting with success; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly congratulates Billy Ray Arflin, Jr., for receiving the 2010 Anderson County Firefighter of the Year award, and the members wish him much success as he continues to serve the citizens of Anderson County in days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Billy Ray Arflin, Jr., Friendship Fire Department firefighter, upon being named the 2010 Anderson County Firefighter of the Year, and express their deep gratitude for his dedicated service to the citizens of his community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Billy Ray Arflin, Jr.
