A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-6-42 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES TO PROVIDE MEDICAID COVERAGE TO CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS FROM JANUARY 1, 2014 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2016.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 1, Chapter 6, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 44-6-42.        Beginning January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016, the department shall provide Medicaid coverage to:

(1)    nonpregnant, childless adults ages nineteen up to sixty-five years with income up to one hundred thirty-eight percent of the federal poverty level (with five percent income disregard);

(2)    individuals who are aged, blind, or disabled with income up to one hundred thirty-eight percent of the federal poverty level (with five percent income disregard);

(3)    low income families with income up to one hundred thirty-eight percent of the federal poverty level (with five percent income disregard)."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval of the Governor.
