A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR EDWARD R. FRYE, JR., CEO OF CLARENDON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to Edward R. Frye, Jr., for his significant contributions to the citizens of our State and to the field of healthcare; and

Whereas, from 1967 to 1971, Edward Frye served his country with distinction as an officer in the United States Air Force; and

Whereas, he served as the administrative resident at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1971 to 1973 and as the administrator at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning from 1973 to 1976; and

Whereas, Mr. Frye returned to Charlotte for a year where he served as the regional hospital director for Sunhealth, Inc., before serving from 1977 to 1981 as the administrator at Chester County Hospital and Nursing Center; and

Whereas, moving to Gillette, Wyoming, he served as the administrator of Campbell County Memorial Hospital from 1981 to 1986, and then he returned to the Palmetto State to assume the duties of administrator at Cheraw Nursing Home; and

Whereas, since 1989, he has faithfully served as the CEO of Clarendon Memorial Hospital; and

Whereas, he served as chairman and member of various committees of the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA); chairman of the boards of South Carolina Healthcare Resources, of the Clarendon County Red Cross Blood Recruitment Committee, and of Shared Services Healthcare, Inc.; and

Whereas, serving his community as a member on numerous boards, he was president of Carolina Medical Center Alumni Association and of the Catawba-Wateree Health Education Consortium and secretary of the South Carolina Health Systems Agency III; and

Whereas, because of his expertise in the healthcare profession and his concern for the health of those in his community, he has been a presenter and keynote speaker on a variety of subjects in the field of healthcare management; and

Whereas, in 1992, he was honored with inclusion in the Platinum Edition of Who's Who Worldwide, and he received the Gold Award from the American Federation of Advertising in 1998 and the 1999 Community Service Award from SCHA; and

Whereas, he was named the Clarendon County Business Professional of the Year by the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce in 2001; and

Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Nanette, he reared two fine daughters, Beth Azer and Tiffany Wells, who have blessed him with seven adoring grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful for the years of dedication that Edward Frye has devoted to healthcare in the Palmetto State and wish him many years of enjoyment in his well-earned retirement.. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Edward R. Frye, Jr., CEO of Clarendon Memorial Hospital, upon the occasion of his retirement after twenty-seven years of outstanding service, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Edward R. Frye, Jr.
