To whom was referred a Bill (S. 348) to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 6-10-35 so as to provide for requirements for fireplaces in lieu of requirements, etc., respectfully

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 6-10-35 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR REQUIREMENTS FOR FIREPLACES IN LIEU OF REQUIREMENTS OF THE 2009 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 10, Title 6 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 6-10-35. Notwithstanding Section 402.4.3 of the 2009 Edition of the International Energy Conservation Code, new wood-burning fireplaces shall have tight-fitting flue dampers and outdoor combustion air."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
