A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF JULIE ABNEY BAILEY OF SUMTER AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, deeply saddened at the news, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned of the death of Julie Abney Bailey of Sumter on May 18, 2013, at the age of forty-four; and

Whereas, born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Wayne Belton Abney and Betty Jean Bennett Abney; and

Whereas, a co-owner of Bailey's Automotive Service, Julie Bailey was employed with the Gary Herlong Agency of State Farm; and

Whereas, Julie, known for her zest for life and generous spirit and for her active involvement in the Sumter community, supported the SPCA and Young Professionals, as well as the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce; and

Whereas, named Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce Minority Business Person of the Year, she was the recipient numerous times of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year award, as well as the "Godmudda" award for raising the most money for the organization; and

Whereas, away from the office, Julie enjoyed dancing and was the winner of the first Sumter Dancing with the Stars competition; and

Whereas, she leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John E. "Bubba" Bailey, Jr.; her sons, Joshua Duncan (Brittany) and Justin Mathis; a grandson, Joshua Bruce Duncan; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Julie Abney Bailey of Sumter and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
