A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE BEST WISHES AND APPRECIATION OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, TO CONGRATULATE BLAKE BURGESS, PROFESSIONAL GEOLOGIST AND VICE PRESIDENT OF FUSS & O'NEILL, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives has learned that Blake Burgess is retiring after a sterling career as a professional geologist and as vice president of Fuss & O'Neill, a national engineering consulting firm, which he has served since 2002 as Columbia regional office partner-in-charge; and

Whereas, Leonard Blakely Burgess, Jr., was reared in Kingstree, the son of Kingstree Mayor Leonard B. Burgess and Elizabeth McCollough Burgess. He earned his B.S. in geology in 1979 and his M.S. in geology in 1982 at the University of South Carolina and is licensed as a professional geologist in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia; and

Whereas, Blake Burgess worked for three years with Amoco Production Company in New Orleans and from 1991 to 1994 with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Division of Hydrogeology, becoming its manager of solid waste; and

Whereas, Mr. Burgess has built an outstanding career and enjoyed an impressive reputation as a professional geologist; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful to this premier geologist for his significant contributions and distinguished service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express the best wishes and appreciation of the South Carolina House of Representatives, congratulate Blake Burgess, professional geologist and vice president of Fuss & O'Neill, on the occasion of his retirement, and wish him much success in his future endeavors.
