VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE JUDY LANGLEY OF DARLINGTON COUNTY ON HER INSTALLATION AS PRESIDENT OF PILOT INTERNATIONAL.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Judy Langley of Darlington County will be installed as president of Pilot International on Saturday, July 13, 2013, in a ceremony to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana; and
Whereas, founded in 1921, Pilot International is a volunteer service organization. Members are business and professional leaders who share a desire to help people in need and to make the world a better place to live. Since 1991, the service focus of Pilot International has been helping people affected by brain-related disorders; and
Whereas, Judy has been a member of the Pilot Club of Darlington since 1988 and is a former Anchor Club member and officer. She has served as president, president-elect, vice president, and director and continues to serve as Pilot International Representative and vice chair of the Pilot Club of Darlington Foundation. Other duties include service as South Carolina district governor, governor-elect, fundraising coordinator, leadership coordinator, BrainMindersTM liaison, chair of the Mildred Henry Davenport Award Committee, and chair of the Nominating Committee; and
Whereas, prior to becoming Pilot International president-elect, Judy served as Pilot International vice president, secretary, and director, among several other offices; and
Whereas, she strongly believes in active participation in her community, and she demonstrates that conviction through her work with various organizations. This recently retired special education teacher presently serves as coordinator of MothereadTM Programs for Darlington County through Darlington County First Steps. Further, she has served as president of the Association of Parents & Teachers and has been active in leadership roles in the Darlington County Chapter of Mental Health America of South Carolina, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for educators, and Trinity United Methodist Church. Judy is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women; and
Whereas, at home, she and her husband, Rodney, enjoy a fine family of two daughters and two grandsons. Judy's hobbies include reading, gardening, and bridge, and she loves spending time with her family at the lake; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in saluting Judy Langley on her installation as president of Pilot International, and the members wish her all the best as she takes up her new duties at the helm of this respected organization. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and congratulate Judy Langley of Darlington County on her installation as president of Pilot International.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Judy Langley.
