A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE RIGHT REVEREND OLIVER T. MCCRAY, JR., UPON HIS INSTALLATION AS PASTOR OF MORRIS CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH OF GREENWOOD ON MARCH 30, 2014, AND TO WISH HIM GOD'S RICHEST BLESSINGS AS HE CONTINUES TO SERVE THE LORD.

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that on March 30, 2014, the Right Reverend Oliver T. McCray, Jr., will be installed as new senior pastor of Greenwood's Morris Chapel Baptist Church; and

Whereas, Pastor McCray follows a long tradition of strong and active Morris Chapel undershepherds who have built the church from the ground up, beginning with its inception in 1865 under a brush arbor. Since those early days, the church has grown spiritually, numerically, and materially by the grace of God; and

Whereas, born in New York State and raised in North Carolina, Pastor McCray answered the call of God into the Gospel ministry in May 1981. He was licensed by Mount Sinai Baptist Church of Mount Holly, North Carolina, in 1986 and ordained by the Gaston County Missionary Baptist Association in 1987; and

Whereas, in 1980, the young Oliver McCray earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Winston-Salem State University, and he is presently a candidate for a master of divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina; and

Whereas, Pastor McCray considers it one of the greatest accomplishments of his life that he was able to persuade Tamera Denise McCray to become his bride. Pastor and Mrs. McCray are the proud parents of four daughters, Ella, Lauren, Jordan, and Marvis, as well as the delighted grandparents of two; and

Whereas, Pastor McCray is also pastor and founder of Prayer Line International; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives, grateful for his faithful spiritual nourishment of the people of South Carolina, takes great pleasure in wishing Pastor McCray God's best as he inaugurates his ministry at Morris Chapel and as he continues to run the race the Lord has set before him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Right Reverend Oliver T. McCray, Jr., upon his installation as pastor of Morris Chapel Baptist Church of Greenwood on March 30, 2014, and wish him God's richest blessings as he continues to serve the Lord.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the Right Reverend Oliver T. McCray, Jr.
