A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. AND MRS. WILLIE JACKSON, ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR PLATINUM WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF BLESSING AND FULFILLMENT.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Willie Jackson will celebrate their seventieth wedding anniversary on May 17, 2014; and

Whereas, Louvicia Boneparte and Willie Jackson met in church and graduated from Elloree Training School; and

Whereas, in 1944, in the month of May when jasmine and gardenias raise their fragrant blooms aloft, Louvicia and Willie pledged to one another a lifetime of love and sharing as they were joined in holy matrimony; and

Whereas, together they reared seven fine children: Walter Jackson, Raymond Jackson, May Frances Brown, WilleEtta Mack, Mahalia Ann Williams, Alberta Jackson, and Faye Jackson. Walter and his wife, Elaine, are parents of Ronald, Stacy, and Lauren; Raymond is the father of Regina, Kenneth, and Creighton; May Frances and her husband, John, are parents of Michael and Ashanti; WilleEtta is the mother of Tangela and Johnetta; Mahalia Ann is the mother of Terrance and Jeanine; Alberta is the mother of Donovan, Deanda, Wynter, and William; and Faye is the mother of Lakenya and Kenyon.

Whereas, for some years, Willie worked as a construction worker and farmer, and he retired from work as a cement finisher; and

Whereas, a devoted husband to Louvicia and a devoted father to his children, Willie is a faithful member of Parlerville African Methodist Episcopal Church with a passion for serving others. He has served in many capacities through the years and now serves as Father of the church; and

Whereas, Louvicia, over the course of raising her children, was a dedicated and busy stay-at-home mom who served her family well by supporting Willie in his careers and making sure her children succeeded in school programs and church programs; and

Whereas, she served as a treasurer for the Parlerville African Methodist Episcopal Church and president of the Missionary Society, and she was active in church Sunday school, on the Stewardess Board, and in Senior Choir. She enjoys baking pies in her leisure; and

Whereas, family is very important to them and through the years they have planned and shared many happy family gatherings; and

Whereas, no success on earth authenticates a life as does a marriage that endures the test of time and grows stronger with each passing year; and

Whereas, Mr. Jackson has learned the veracity of the proverb, "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord," and he now considers having had the good sense to marry his beloved Louvicia one of his crowning achievements; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the seven decades of devotion that Louvicia and Willie Jackson have had for each other and for their family and the example of love and fidelity they set for all who know them. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Willie Jackson, on the occasion of their platinum wedding anniversary, and extend best wishes for many more years of blessing and fulfillment.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Mr. and Mrs. Willie Jackson.
