A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, UPON THE PASSING OF CHARLES NELSON OF NEW YORK, AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LOVING FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Charles Nelson at the age of sixty-four on March 18, 2014; and

Whereas, born in Lynchburg on November 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Walter Nelson and Mary Lue Jefferson, and he received his formal education in the public schools of Lee County; and

Whereas, after graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1968, Charles Nelson began his career in business administration and successfully retired after thirty-three years of faithful service to New York Telephone; and

Whereas, he had an entrepreneurial spirit, and after his retirement, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own business known as "Mr. C's" nightclub; and

Whereas, Mr. C., as he was fondly known, left behind three fine children: a son, Charles Nelson, Jr., of Lynchburg; and two daughters, Natasha Nelson of Columbia and Destiny Nelson of Elizabeth, New Jersey. They blessed him with four precious grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Charles Nelson and for the example of kindness he set for all who knew him. Now, therefore,
