VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE ROBERT N. BOYKIN, JR., NBSC EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND SUMTER REGIONAL MARKET PRESIDENT, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives has learned that Robert N. Boykin, Jr., NBSC executive vice president and Sumter regional market president, will retire on June 30, 2014, from a distinguished career at NBSC spanning four and a half decades; and
Whereas, in preparation for his life's work, Bobby, as he is known to friends and family, completed work at The Citadel and the University of South Carolina (USC) to earn his bachelor's degree. In addition, he studied at the American Bankers Association's National Installment Credit School and Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware and at the South Carolina Banker's School at the University of South Carolina College of Business Administration and the South Carolina Banker's Association; and
Whereas, he took up his duties at NBSC in 1969 as a management trainee. Over the years, he has served as assistant branch manager, installment loan collector, assistant cashier, branch manager, assistant vice president, commercial loan officer, vice president and Manning city executive, senior community executive, community/regional executive IV, Sumter regional market president, and executive vice president, the latter two being his present positions; and
Whereas, Bobby Boykin has always believed strongly in personal involvement with his community, and his convictions have led him to serve that community in numerous capacities. Presently, these include service as a board member of Sumter Smarter Growth Initiative, USC--Sumter Partnership, and Santee Lynches Regional Development Corporation. He is a member of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Shaw-Sumter Community Council, and Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where he is Chairman of the Administrative Board; and
Whereas, in recognition of his achievements, he has received various honors, including selection as Sumter Business Person of the Year (1993), Economic Ambassador for Sumter County (2001), and Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow; and
Whereas, at home, Bobby Boykin is the proud husband of Gayle Kinney Boykin; the equally proud father of two grown children, Robert N. "Tripp" Boykin III and Grae Boykin Pratt; and the delighted grandfather of two; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Mr. Boykin has bestowed on this great State, takes great pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement and trusts he will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Robert N. Boykin, Jr., NBSC executive vice president and Sumter regional market president, upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his many years of dedicated service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Robert N. Boykin, Jr.
