VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE 7TH EPISCOPAL DISTRICT OF THE AME CHURCH ON ITS INVALUABLE MINISTRY TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO DECLARE FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2014, AS "AME CHURCH FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY" IN THE PALMETTO STATE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn of the fine work carried out by the 7th Episcopal District of the AME Church for the benefit of the citizens of South Carolina and to congratulate the church on its success; and
Whereas, as will be celebrated at the church's Christian Leadership Conference 2014, to be held in Florence on July 16-18, 2014, the AME Church focuses on strengthening families in this great State through continued dialogue on health, education, youth, and seniors; and
Whereas, at the conference, plenary sessions and workshops will bring educators, health experts, and speakers to address these areas and so prepare the members of the church for greater ministry opportunities ahead; and
Whereas, the conference will culminate with the statewide AME Family and Friends Day on July 18, 2014, at which five thousand attendees will celebrate the successes of the past and anticipate the further successes of the future in the church's ministry; and
Whereas, as with all ministries of the AME Church, the conference is driven and undergirded by its mission "to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed"; and
Whereas, grateful for the faithful ministry of the AME Church in this great State, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in acknowledging the church's labors and in proclaiming Friday, July 18, 2014, as "AME Church Family and Friends Day" in South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the 7th Episcopal District of the AME Church on its invaluable ministry to the people of South Carolina and declare July 18, 2014, as "AME Church Family and Friends Day" in the Palmetto State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to the 7th Episcopal District of the AME Church.
