A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE FIRST ANNUAL SOUTH CAROLINA MOTHER'S DAY FESTIVAL IN CAMDEN, SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, MAY 3, 2014, TO COMMEMORATE THE ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF MOTHER'S DAY IN AMERICA, AND TO WISH ALL SOUTH CAROLINA MOTHERS A JOYOUS CELEBRATION OF THEIR SPECIAL DAY OF APPRECIATION.

Whereas, May 11, 2014, marks America's one hundredth year of celebrating Mother's Day, and in keeping with this worthy celebration of our country's mothers, Camden will host the first annual South Carolina Mother's Day Festival. Scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Camden's Zemp Stadium, the festival's goal is to create an event honoring mothers from all cultures represented in the community; and

Whereas, the new event will kick off with a parade starting at 10:00 a.m. and progressing from City Hall onto Lyttleton Street into Zemp Stadium. Participants will decorate cars, trucks, or parade floats for moms to ride in the parade. The celebration will continue with a keynote speaker, hat contest, quilt display, and live entertainment. All proceeds will benefit the Family Resource Center, Sistercare, New Day on Mill, Midlands Women's Center, and UWKC Mentoring Program; and

Whereas, it is fitting that the people of South Carolina should pause to honor the mothers who nurtured them and raised them to live as responsible, productive adults in our fair State. The House, therefore, takes great pleasure in recognizing the South Carolina Mother's Day Festival in Camden and encourages all citizens to attend and enjoy this outstanding event. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize the first annual South Carolina Mother's Day Festival in Camden, scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2014, commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of Mother's Day in America, and wish all South Carolina mothers a joyous celebration of their special day of appreciation.
