A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-112-125 SO AS TO GRANT A STATE INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION WITH AN UNDERGRADUATE ENROLLMENT OF LESS THAN TEN THOUSAND STUDENTS THE AUTHORITY TO OFFER IN-STATE TUITION RATES TO BORDERING STATE RESIDENTS IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 112, Title 59 is amended by adding:

"Section 59-112-125.    A state institution of higher education with an undergraduate enrollment of less than ten thousand students may offer in-state tuition rates to residents of North Carolina and Georgia, but must limit the acceptance of out-of-state students to twenty-five percent of the entire student population."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
