TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY FOR ITS EXEMPLARY STANDARDS IN EDUCATION AND TO CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS, PARENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATION FOR RECEIVING A 2014-2015 PALMETTO GOLD AWARD FOR GENERAL PERFORMANCE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Central High School has been granted a 2014-2015 Palmetto Gold Award for General Performance; and
Whereas, each year the South Carolina Department of Education rewards South Carolina schools that have attained high levels of absolute performance, attained high rates of growth, and made substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between disaggregated groups, designating such schools Palmetto Gold Award and Palmetto Silver Award recipients; and
Whereas, basing their selections on the absolute and improvement ratings assigned to each South Carolina school on the previous year's report card, the South Carolina Department of Education has granted 2014-2015 Palmetto Gold and Silver honors to 533 high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in the State; and
Whereas, thanks to the hard work of students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration, Central High School has captured a Palmetto Gold Award for General Performance and has demonstrated what can be accomplished when all stakeholders have high expectations and strive to help students reach the full measure of their talents and skills; and
Whereas, to formally recognize Central High School and the other winning schools for capturing a Palmetto Award, the South Carolina Department of Education sends a certificate and a Palmetto Award winner flag to be posted in front of the school; and
Whereas, fully expecting continued academic excellence from this standout school, the South Carolina House of Representatives is proud to commend the fine educational achievement of 2014-2015 Palmetto Gold Award for General Performance winner Central High School. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Central High School of Chesterfield County for its exemplary standards in education and congratulate the students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration for receiving a 2014-2015 Palmetto Gold Award for General Performance.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Principal Juddson Starling of Central High School.
