A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND COMMEND CHRISTOPHER SUMPTER, JR., OF SUMTER COUNTY FOR HIS BRAVERY SHOWN IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly find it appropriate to pause in their deliberations to commend a young man for the courage he exhibited in a dangerous circumstance; and

Whereas, Christopher was put in a frightening situation on March 5, 2017, when the car he was travelling in was in a wreck in the dark of night on Silver Road and Summerton Highway; and

Whereas, with the help of the brave men and women of the Clarendon County Fire Department, Christopher made it safely out of the wreck and back into the arms of his loving father and mother, Christopher Sumpter, Sr., and Tiffany Sumpter; and

Whereas, clearly the Lord has plans for this young man as he was able to brave a tough situation and exhibit courage and spirit that many adults would find difficult to muster; and

Whereas, born December 28, 2009, Christopher attends first grade at Manchester Elementary School in Pinewood; and

Whereas, an active young man, Christopher loves basketball and football, as well as dirt bikes and four-wheelers. He enjoys playing outside, riding his bike, and playing his PlayStation 3; and

Whereas, no doubt Christopher has many bike rides and marathon PlayStation 3 sessions ahead of him in the coming summer months; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly applaud Christopher's fortitude and strength of character during that trying time and wish him much success and happiness as he grows into adulthood. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and commend Christopher Sumpter, Jr., of Sumter County for his bravery shown in the face of adversity.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Christopher Sumpter, Jr.
