A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR LAUREN GLAZER AS SHE LEAVES HER SERVICE AS A LAW CLERK IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE ETHICS COMMITTEE AND TO CONGRATULATE HER ON HER UPCOMING GRADUATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOOL OF LAW AND TO WISH HER GODSPEED IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Lauren Glazer will graduate from the University of South Carolina School of Law on May 5, 2017. She is the daughter of Harold and Donna Glazer; and

Whereas, Lauren graduated with academic honors from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in December 2013, with a bachelor degree in English and history; and

Whereas, she has previously worked at the Office of the Clerk and Research for the House of Representatives in Columbia as a law clerk and with the House Ethics Committee and House Judiciary Committee in the same role. Prior to that, Lauren was a receptionist and legal personal assistant at Parker Poe Adams and Bernstein in Columbia, and while working towards her undergraduate degree, she worked as a file intern for Jones Walker Law Firm in New Orleans; and

Whereas, Lauren began clerking for the House Ethics Committee in June 2015 for a short stint before returning in May 2016. Here she assists with legal research and drafting of memoranda for Ethics Committee members, including the Committee's advisory opinions, aids in the research of ethical issues, summarizes legislation, and creates presentations. In her legal research, Lauren's quick legal mind anticipates both sides of a legal argument, and she thoroughly researches all issues. She is a dedicated law clerk and works many hours, sometimes overtime, to ensure an assignment is fully handled; and

Whereas, with her outstanding legal mind, dedication to the law, and her personality, Lauren has a bright legal career before her. She has accepted a State clerkship with Judge Eugene C. Griffith, Jr., Circuit Court, 8th Judicial Circuit to begin in August 2017 and will be married to Michael Trask on September 16, 2017; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives deeply appreciates the service that Lauren has rendered to the House Ethics Committee over the past several months, and the members celebrate her successful completion of an outstanding academic career and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Lauren Glazer as she leaves her service as a law clerk in the South Carolina House Ethics Committee and congratulate her on her upcoming graduation from the University of South Carolina School of Law and wish her Godspeed in the days ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lauren Glazer.
