VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE NELL JEAN SWANSON OF LAURENS COUNTY FOR HER DISTINGUISHED CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HICKORY TAVERN FIRE DEPARTMENT THROUGH NEARLY FORTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER SERVICE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn of the most impressive contributions of Nell Jean Swanson to the Hickory Tavern Fire Department, where she has served as a dedicated volunteer for nearly forty years; and
Whereas, Nell Jean Swanson began her volunteer service as a firefighter with the Hickory Tavern Fire Department on February 8, 1979, and became one of the first female firefighters in the department and in the county to be certified; and
Whereas, during Mrs. Swanson's time with the department, she has responded to over ten thousand emergency calls, logged well over ten thousand training hours, and has served as the department's medical officer for more than ten years; and
Whereas, the definition of true commitment to her department, she has maintained more than a ninety percent call response each year, even while battling breast cancer; and
Whereas, for the last fifteen years, Mrs. Swanson has served as the treasurer for the Firefighters Fund and as a board member of the One Percent Fund Committee; and
Whereas, her numerous awards for service include being named Volunteer of the Year and Firefighter of the Year by her fellow firefighters because of her dedication to the department; and
Whereas, a faithful member of Henderson Baptist Church, Mrs. Swanson is loyal to and active in multiple ministries within the congregation; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina are grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Nell Jean Swanson has devoted to the Hickory Tavern Fire Department and the public safety of the people of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Nell Jean Swanson of Laurens County for her distinguished contributions to the Hickory Tavern Fire Department through nearly forty years of outstanding volunteer service.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Nell Jean Swanson.
