A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 22-8-10(1) OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO MAGISTRATES' COMPENSATION, TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF MAGISTRATES BY SENATORIAL DELEGATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 22-8-10(1) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(1)    'Chief magistrate' means the magistrate in each county who is designated by the Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court as the chief magistrate for administrative purposes by the Senatorial delegation representing for the county in which he serves."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
