THE COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY

To whom was referred a Bill (H. 3441) to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 42-9-450 so as to provide the payments of workers' compensation by employers' representatives must, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:

Amend the bill, as and if amended, by deleting all after the enacting words and inserting:

/ SECTION    1.    Chapter 9, Title 42 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 42-9-450. An employer's representative shall make payment of compensation by means of check or electronic payment system including, but not limited to, an electronic funds transfer, a direct deposit, debit card, or similar payment system if such payments are made in accordance with the policies, procedures, or regulations as provided by the Commission."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor. /

Renumber sections to conform.

Amend title to conform.

A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 42-9-450 SO AS TO PROVIDE THE PAYMENTS OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION BY EMPLOYERS' REPRESENTATIVES MUST BE MADE BY CHECK OR DIRECT DEPOSIT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 9, Title 42 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 42-9-450. An employer's representative shall make payment of compensation by means of check or direct deposit."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
