A senate RESOLUTION

 

to congratulate Greenwood High School wrestlers Kennedi Washington and Cason Howle for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AAAA individual State Championship titles.

 

Whereas, senior and team captain for the girls team in the 2023-2024 wrestling season, Kennedi Washington was a major participant in the success of the first sanctioned girls wrestling team at Greenwood High School. The girls team finished with a 5-0 record and second place finish as a team in the State of South Carolina; and

 

Whereas, in individual matches, Kennedi captured twenty-two wins with no losses and a career record of fifty-five wins in three years. In the 2024 state tournament, she was 3-0 with two pins before reaching the third period and one minor decision to win her second straight championship; and

 

Whereas, Cason Howle, a junior and team captain for the Greenwood High School boys wrestling team in the 2023-2024 wrestling season, led his team in winning twenty-two dual meets and a region championship and in making it all the way to the Upper State championship; and

 

Whereas, in individual matches, Cason garnered fifty-eight wins with no losses, and one hundred fifty-nine wins and one loss over his career, setting and breaking many Greenwood High and state records. To win the state title, he defeated three opponents by technical fall, all by the second period: the first 15-0, the second 20-3, and the third 18-2 for his third straight state championship. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Greenwood High School wrestlers Kennedi Washington and Cason Howle for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AAAA Individual State Championship titles.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kennedi Washington and to Cason Howle.
