A bill

to amend the South Carolina Code of Laws by adding Section 59-17-165 so as to PROVIDE THE GOVERNING BODY OF EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THIS STATE SHALL CREATE A STUDENT BULLYING ADVISORY COUNCIL TO BE COMPRISED OF STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND TEACHERS SELECTED BY THE GOVERNING BODY TO ADVISE it ON MATTERS RELATING TO STUDENT-ON-STUDENT BULLYING PROBLEMS AND OTHER MATTERS THAT THE GOVERNING BODY CONSIDERS APPROPRIATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1.   Chapter 17, Title 59 of the S.C. Code is amended by adding:

   Section 59-17-165.   The governing body of each school district of this State shall create a Student Bullying Advisory Council to be comprised of students, parents, and teachers selected by the governing body to advise it on matters relating to student-on-student bullying problems and other matters that the governing body considers appropriate.

SECTION 2.   This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
