A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE D. W. Daniel High School marching band, band directors, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A REMARKABLE SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2022 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the D. W. Daniel High School Lions Pride marching band of Pickens County took home the state trophy from the state competition held in Blythewood on October 29, 2022; and

Whereas, to the delight of their faithful supporters, the Lions Pride marching band bested a fine, competitive field of comers with an overall score of 91.55, approximately four points ahead of second-place rivals, Hartsville High School; and

Whereas, the 2022 state championship was the second state victory for the D. W. Daniel High School band; and

Whereas, in a field that exacts academic and extracurricular discipline, practice, and musical talent, Director of Bands Chaz Paxton and his skilled staff utilized their own experience and passion to build a championship-caliber band and teach these musicians life principals that will endure beyond the marching fields; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for the esteem and pride that the Daniel High musicians have brought to their school and their community, and the members look forward to following their continued, tremendous achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the D. W. Daniel High School marching band, band directors, and school officials for a remarkable season and congratulate them for winning the 2022 South Carolina Class AAA State Championship title.
