A bill

 

TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY ADDING SECTION 43-5-135 SO AS TO EXCLUDE INCOME EARNED BY A MINOR CHILD FROM HOUSEHOLD INCOME FOR PURPOSES OF CALCULATING SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BENEFITS.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

 

SECTION 1.  Article 1, Chapter 5, Title 43 of the S.C. Code is amended by adding:

 

    Section 43-5-135.  Any income earned by a child under eighteen years of age who is attending high school or technical or vocational school is not counted toward household income for purposes of determining eligibility for and amount of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.

 

SECTION 2.  This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
