A house RESOLUTION

TO HONOR THE RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2024 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO SALUTE THEM ON A SUPERB SEASON.

Whereas, the air on your face and the ground under your feet feel different when you reach the top of the mountain. The Ridge View Blazers found that out afresh on Saturday, March 2, 2024, when they knocked off Riverside 58-52 to claim the Class AAAA State Boys Basketball Championship. It was Ridge View's fifth state championship for the boys basketball program; and

Whereas, the scene of this well-earned triumph was the Florence Center, used by the Blazers to demonstrate clearly why Ridge View rose to the top of the rankings. With its newly minted title win, Ridge View finished the season 27-2; and

Whereas, while it was the fifth state title in program history, it was the first under Coach Joshua Staley, who is in his second season with the Blazers. He inherited a first-year roster filled with young and unproven talent, and the state title went elsewhere last year. But his players bought in, developed their skills, pulled together, and captured the title once again as a very satisfying end to a fine 2024 season; and

Whereas, in addition, the Blazers won three games at The Bash in December, a showcase event they host annually, and they defeated two nationally ranked teams on their way to winning the Chick-fil-A Classic tournament. They moved into the national rankings in late December 2023; and

Whereas, the members of the Ridge View boys basketball team have given their school and community reason to be proud of their accomplishments, and the House takes great pleasure in adding its collective voice to the encomiums flowing in to this outstanding group of young athletes. Go, Blazers! Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the Ridge View High School boys basketball team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2024 Class AAAA State Championship title and salute them on a superb season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Brenda Mack, principal, and Coach Joshua Staley of Ridge View High School.
