The Blatt Building

The Blatt Building houses the offices of the Members and staff of the South Carolina House of Representatives. It is located on the Capitol Complex at the corner of Pendleton and Assembly Streets.

The Blatt Building

The Building was named for Solomon Blatt, Representative from Barnwell County.

Solomon Blatt served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1933 until 1986. He served as Speaker Pro Tempore from 1935-1937; as Speaker from 1937-1945 and 1951-1973. In 1973 Blatt was elected Speaker Emeritus of the House - a position he held until his death in 1986.
