A house RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE PICKENS KEN MOYD, JR., M.D., OF CARESOUTH CAROLINA, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina House of Representatives honors those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to the welfare of this great state's citizenry; and

Whereas, Dr. Ken Moyd, retiring as a physician from CareSouth Carolina, stands among their number as an outstanding public benefactor, one much admired in his role as both medical doctor and mentor to younger medical professionals; and

Whereas, born on February 22, 1958, to Deryl "Dee" Moyd and the late Dr. Pickens K. Moyd, Sr., Dr. Moyd came from a fine family of boys, of which he is the eldest. A native of Virginia, he relocated as a child to Hartsville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, having graduated from Hartsville High School, the young Ken earned his bachelor's degree at Clemson University, where he majored in zoology, after which he received his M.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1985; and

Whereas, Dr. Moyd completed his family medicine residency program at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg. He is board certified in family practice medicine and has maintained membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association; and

Whereas, on July 11, 1988, he started his journey as a medical provider at CareSouth Carolina, where he has served his community for more than thirty-four years; and

Whereas, he has been married to Diana Moyd for twenty-seven years, who has been a source of strong support throughout his career; and

Whereas, having made his mark and set the bar of achievement extraordinarily high in his profession, Dr. Moyd will be remembered with affection and gratitude by patients, coworkers, and colleagues for years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Pickens Ken Moyd, Jr., M.D., of CareSouth Carolina, upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his many years of distinguished service as a medical professional, and wish him much continued success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Ken Moyd.
