A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE DREHER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BENJAMIN BROWN ON BEING SELECTED TO ATTEND THE 2023 DISNEY DREAMERS ACADEMY.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Dreher High School student Benjamin Brown was selected to attend the 2023 Disney Dreamers Academy; and

 

Whereas, one hundred exceptional teens from across the country were selected from an applicant pool of more than nine thousand teens to attend the four-day Disney Dreamers Academy (DDA), held March 22-26, 2023. The annual DDA event is aimed at broadening career awareness and creating exclusive opportunities for Black students and teens from underrepresented communities across America; and

 

Whereas, the only teen selected from the State of South Carolina for this honor, Benjamin was recognized at the Richland County School District One Board of School Commissioners meeting at Dreher High School on January 24, 2023; and

 

Whereas, Benjamin is a dual enrollment AP/honors student at both Dreher High School and Midlands Technical College and a decorated cadet in the Navy ROTC program. In addition, the Dreher junior is a member of the golf team and several other school and civic organizations, including the National Honor Society, National Student Council, and Key Club; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House takes great pleasure in saluting Benjamin Brown on receiving this prestigious recognition. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Dreher High School student Benjamin Brown on being selected to attend the 2023 Disney Dreamers Academy.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Benjamin Brown.
