A bill

 

TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY ADDING SECTION 50-13-647 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE TAKING, HARMING, OR KILLING OF ROBUST REDHORSE.

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

 

SECTION 1.  Article 6, Chapter 13, Title 50 of the S.C. Code is amended by adding:

 

    Section 50-13-647. It is unlawful to take, harm, or kill robust redhorse (moxostoma robustum) from public waters. Any robust redhorse taken must be returned immediately to the water from which it was taken. A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not less than five hundred dollars nor more than two thousand dollars or imprisoned for thirty days, or both.

 

SECTION 2.  This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
