WHEREAS, by letter to the undersigned dated January 6, 1997, Ms. Gayle P. Werts, stated her intention to resign as Treasurer of Saluda County effective June 30, 1997; and

WHEREAS, the undersigned has accepted Ms. Werts' resignation, and is authorized to appoint a County Treasurer in the event of a vacancy pursuant to Code of Laws of South Carolina (1976), as amended, Section 1-3-220 (Supp. 1996); and

WHEREAS, Ms. Susan I. Vance, Route 3, Box 379, Batesburg, South Carolina 29006, is a fit and proper person to serve as the Treasurer of Saluda County.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of this State, I hereby direct that Ms. Susan I. Vance shall be appointed as Treasurer for Saluda County effective July 1, 1997, and shall serve through June 30, 1999.
