WHEREAS, by letter to the undersigned dated July 18, 1997, Mr. Robert J. Caughman resigned as Auditor of Lexington County effective August 16, 1997; and

WHEREAS, the undersigned has accepted Mr. Caughman's resignation and is authorized to appoint a County Auditor in the event of a vacancy pursuant to Code of Laws of South Carolina (1976), as amended, Section 1-3-220 (Supp. 1996); and

WHEREAS, Ms. Irby H. Schultz, 120 Setting Sun Lane, Columbia, South Carolina 29212, is a fit and proper person to serve as the Auditor of Lexington County.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of this State, I hereby order that Ms. Irby H. Schultz shall be appointed as Auditor of Lexington County effective immediately, and shall serve until her successor is elected and qualified.
