EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 97-41


WHEREAS, by letter to the undersigned dated December 11, 1997, the Honorable Wade S. Kolb, Jr. stated his intention to retire as Solicitor, Third Judicial Circuit, effective at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 1998; and

WHEREAS, the Judge residing in the Third Judicial Circuit has certified the vacancy to the undersigned; and

WHEREAS, the Governor is authorized to appoint a Solicitor in the event of a vacancy pursuant to Code of Laws of South Carolina (1976), as amended, Section 1-3-220 (Supp. 1996);

WHEREAS, Mr. Arthur H. Wilder, Jr., a resident of Sumter County, is a fit and proper person to serve as the Solicitor, Third Judicial Circuit.

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of South Carolina and pursuant to the Constitution and Laws of this State, it is Ordered that Mr. Arthur H. Wilder, Jr. be and he is hereby appointed Solicitor, Third Judicial Circuit, effective 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 1998, to fill the unexpired term of that office.
