EXPLANATION: ensure dot contracted firms pay workers at rest areas in a timely manner
Amend the bill, as and if amended, Part IB, Section 84,
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, page 409, after line 7, by adding
an appropriately numbered paragraph to read:
/ (DOT: Rest Areas Contractual
Payments) The Department of Transportation is directed to
ensure that firms the department contracts with to perform
services at South Carolina Rest Areas pay their employees for
performing such services in a timely manner. If the department
determines that the contracted firm does not pay these employees
in a timely manner, the department shall delay the next
contractual payment to the firm by the same number of days that
payment to its contracted employees was delayed./
