Amend the bill, as and if amended, page 13, by striking lines 32-36 and inserting:
/ arts to students in grades three through eight. The State Board of Education will assess science at least once in elementary, middle, and high school. The State Board of Education shall determine in which grades social studies will be assessed. /
Amend the bill further, as and if amended, by adding appropriately numbered new SECTIONS to read:
/ SECTION __. By January 15, 2018, the State Board of Education, in consultation with the Education Oversight Committee, will recommend revisions to the state assessment system to improve teaching and increase instructional time for students for reaching the profile of a graduate.
SECTION __. No provision of this act removes, reduces, or alters the current statutory requirements regarding social studies instruction required by law. /
