Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking all after the enacting words and inserting:
\ SECTION 1. Section 50-5-1005(B) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"(B)(1) The
department may grant permits to persons to possess, produce,
purchase, or sell genetically modified shellfish,
including polyploid shellfish.
(2)
No genetically modified shellfish,
including polypoid shellfish, may be placed in the
waters of this State or waters connected to the waters of this
State, except under the provisions of a permit issued by the
department."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor. \
