Rep. MAGNUSON proposes the following Amendment No.     to H.5201 as introduced by Ways & Means

EXPLANATION: Directs CHE in consultation with state colleges to conduct a study costing no more than $1000 to determine if the colleges are teaching the founding documents required by statute

Amend the bill, as and if amended, Part IB, Section 117, GENERAL PROVISIONS, page 530, after line 28, by adding an appropriately numbered paragraph to read:

/ (GP: Founding Documents Determination) From the funds appropriated to the Commission on Higher Education, in the current fiscal year, the commission shall consult with the public institutions of higher learning to determine which are in compliance of the provisions of Section 59-29-120(A) of the 1976 Code. The commission may not expend more than one thousand dollars to make such a determination. By October 1, public institutions shall provide any necessary documentation to the Commission for purposes of determining compliance. By November 1, the Commission on Higher Education shall report its findings to the Chairman of the House Education and Public Works Committee and the Chairman of Senate Education and Public Works Committee. /
