Reps. MAGNUSON and HILL propose the following Amendment No. to H.5150 as introduced by Ways & Means

EXPLANATION: Defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

Amend the bill, as and if amended, Part IB, Section 117, GENERAL PROVISIONS, page 542, after line 31, by adding an appropriately numbered proviso to read:

/(GP: Defund Planned Parenthood) In the current fiscal year, no agency or subdivision of the state may use any appropriated funds to enter into a contract with an entity that provides abortions. Any contract made in violation of this provision shall be regarded as void. Neither the Treasurer nor the Comptroller General shall disperse any appropriated funds in payment of such a contract to a provider of abortion. The General Assembly enacts this provision as a reserved power under the authority of the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and holds that no employee of this state may be compelled to act contrary to it, any other provision of law, court order, legal opinion, or professional guidance notwithstanding./
