Amend the bill, as and if amended, SECTION 2, Section 59-29-620(D), by adding an appropriately numbered item to read:

/( ) the historical fact that in 1862 two Northern Quakers created the Penn School on St. Helens Island after the Union captured the area and thousands of former enslaved people fled to safety there. The school survives as the Penn Center, serving as a conference center for the civil rights movement and a center for self-help and historical preservation today. /
