Rep. ERICKSON proposes the following Amendment No. to H.5126 as introduced by Ways & Means

EXPLANATION: Suspend Section 59-63-100(A)(3) for the fiscal year.

Amend the bill, as and if amended, Part IB, Section 1, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, page 309, after line 33, by adding an appropriately numbered proviso to read:

/(SDE: Home School Students) For the current fiscal year, Section 59-63-100(A)(3), relating to participation in interscholastic activities of public school districts by home school, charter school, and Governor's school students, is suspended. For purposes of this proviso, "home school student" means a child taught in accordance with Sections , , or and who has been taught in accordance with one of these sections for a full academic year prior to participating in an interscholastic activity. The requirement of being taught for one full academic year as a home school student before being granted eligibility for interscholastic activity is waived if the student attended a public or private school within the previous academic year and was not expelled, assigned to an alternative school for disciplinary reasons, or earned a grade point average of 1.0 or higher. /
