Rep. LAWSON proposes the following Amendment No. to H.5126 as introduced by Ways & Means

EXPLANATION: Schools may utilize $2,000,000 to purchase AEDs

Amend the bill, as and if amended, Part IB, Section 1, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, page 309, after line 33, by adding an appropriately numbered proviso to read:

/(SDE: Funding for School Safety) Of the funds appropriated in this act for School Safety, the department may utilize $2,000,000 to assist individual schools and/or districts to promote cardiac emergency response plans for high-needs schools, including, but not limited to the purchase of AEDs, AED maintenance, AED pads, AED battery replacements, CPR training kits or CPS training for faculty or staff, basic first aid training, and educational materials. High-need schools may be determined by using a district's Index to Taxpaying Ability.
