 A Bill to amend Section 7-7-230, as amended, Code of Laws of South Carolina,
 1976, relating to voting precincts in Dorchester County, so as to designate
 the voting precincts in Dorchester County, so as to designate the voting
 precincts and voting places and to provide that maps defining precinct lines
 must be filed with the State Election Commission and maintained by the
 Division of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control
 Board; and to require that duplicate voter registration certificates be mailed
 to persons whose registration is transferred.

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-230, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO VOTING PRECINCTS IN DORCHESTER COUNTY, SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE VOTING PRECINCTS AND VOTING PLACES AND TO PROVIDE THAT MAPS DEFINING PRECINCT LINES MUST BE FILED WITH THE STATE ELECTION COMMISSION AND MAINTAINED BY THE DIVISION OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICAL SERVICES OF THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD; AND TO REQUIRE THAT DUPLICATE VOTER REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES BE MAILED TO PERSONS WHOSE REGISTRATION IS TRANSFERRED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Voting precincts and voting places in Dorchester County

SECTION 1. Section 7-7-230 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 119 of 1983, is further amended to read:

"Section 7-7-230. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 7-7-10, in Dorchester County the voting precincts, with each voting place, are designated as follows:

The precinct lines defining the above precincts are as shown on maps filed with the clerk of court of the county and also on file with the State Election Commission as provided and maintained by the Division of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control Board."

Duplicate certificates to be mailed

SECTION 2. The board of registration of Dorchester County shall mail a duplicate certificate reflecting the new precinct to any person whose registration is transferred to another precinct by virtue of the provisions of this act. The certificate is not required to be signed by the named elector in the presence of anyone.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
