THE COMMITTEE ON INVITATIONS

To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (S. 1283), designating July 16, 1994, as "PreviousAtomicNext Veterans Day", etc., respectfully

REPORT:

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

DESIGNATING JULY 16, 1994, AS "PreviousATOMICNext VETERANS DAY" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, July 16, 1945 is the day when the first PreviousatomicNext bomb was exploded; and

Whereas, on August 6, 1945, the first wartime PreviousatomicNext bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, and, on August 9, 1945, the second wartime PreviousatomicNext bomb was dropped on Nagasaki; and

Whereas, half a million United States service personnel were involved in the PreviousatmosphericNext nuclear testing of the 1940's, 1950's, and 1960's, according to the latest figures available; and

Whereas, the General Assembly feels certain recognition is in order to honor and remember the service personnel who were thus involved. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, designates July 16, 1994, as "PreviousAtomic Veterans Day" in South Carolina.
