RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO DR. CHARLES L.
CUMMINS, JR., FOR HIS SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT
FOR STUDENT ATHLETES DURING HIS TWENTY-FOUR
YEARS AS SUPERINTENDENT OF LAURENS COUNTY
SCHOOL DISTRICT 56.
Whereas, as a former athlete, coach, and athletic director, Dr.
Charles L. Cummins, Jr., has appreciated the life-lessons which can
be learned on the playing field; and
Whereas, he has personally supported the teams of Laurens County
School District 56 in general and of Clinton High School in
particular, having attended hundreds of sporting events involving
the Clinton High School Red Devils, the Martha Dendy Panthers,
and the Bell Street Wildcats; and
Whereas, during his administration as superintendent of Laurens
County School District 56, Clinton High School's Wilder Stadium
was enlarged and modernized and, also a modern new gymnasium
was constructed; these facilities became the centerpieces of an
outstanding athletic complex; and
Whereas, the Laurens County School District 56 coaches and
student athletes, both past and present, are deeply indebted to Dr.
Cummins and sincerely appreciative of his loyal support and
constructive efforts over the past twenty-four years, and they look
forward to Dr. Cummins' continued friendship and interest. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, expresses appreciation to Dr. Charles L. Cummins, Jr.,
for his support and encouragement for student athletes during his
twenty-four years as superintendent of Laurens County School
District 56.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Dr. Cummins.
