A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE BROOKLAND-CAYCE BEARCATS GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2000 CLASS AAA STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were very pleased to learn that the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats girls softball team won the 2000 Class AAA state softball championship by defeating a fine Seneca team in a three-game series 2-1; and

Whereas, the Lady Bearcats finished the year with a 32-2 won-loss record, and this marks the second time in three years the Lady Bearcats have won the state championship; and

Whereas, Jennifer Owens pitched the two winning games which were played on the same day, and her courage and determination combined with that of her teammates provided the winning margin; and

Whereas, under the leadership of coach Richard Lundy and his fine staff, the Lady Bearcats combined outstanding skills with a great attitude to become one of the best Brookland-Cayce softball teams ever; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding group of young ladies, their coaches, and staff upon the occasion of winning this truly deserved championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats girls softball team for winning the 2000 Class AAA state softball championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Richard Lundy and the principal of Brookland-Cayce High School.
