 A SENATE RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH
 CAROLINA SENATE UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MR. GERALD BOYD OF CLEARWATER,
 SOUTH CAROLINA, IN AIKEN COUNTY AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY
 AND MANY FRIENDS.

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MR. GERALD BOYD OF CLEARWATER, SOUTH CAROLINA, IN AIKEN COUNTY AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened upon learning of the death of Mr. Gerald Boyd of Clearwater who died on Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the age of seventy-five; and

Whereas, Mr. Boyd was born in Graniteville, South Carolina, the son of the late Demix Boyd and Nellie LaFavour Boyd, and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County; and

Whereas, he was the loving husband of Mrs. Lallie Clarke Boyd of Clearwater; the devoted father of David Allen Boyd of Clearwater, Todd Edward Heath of North Augusta, Kathy Lynn Leroy of Beech Island, and Rebecca Lynn Boyd of Clearwater; and the dearly loved grandfather of Todd Edward Heath, Jr. of Clearwater, Ethan Zachary Heath of North Augusta, Jacob Daniel Boyd of Washington, D.C., Andrew Leroy of Beech Island, John Leroy III of Aiken, and Jessica Lee Boyd of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. Boyd was the devoted and caring pastor of Abundant Life Church in Clearwater for more than thirty years, providing spiritual guidance to those in his community and leading fellow residents of Aiken County in worship; and

Whereas, he was also a constable for Judge Barber in Langley, South Carolina, for five years, worked for many years for the Graniteville Company; and

Whereas, Mr. Boyd courageously and patriotically served this country in the United States Army and defended this nation during the Korean Conflict; and

Whereas, he was a member of the Christian Heritage Pentecostal Church in Graniteville; and

Whereas, Mr. Boyd was admired and respected by all who knew him; he was a devoted family man, beloved pastor, and caring friend, and he will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon learning of the death of Mr. Gerald Boyd of Clearwater, South Carolina, in Aiken County and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Lallie Clarke Boyd of Clearwater.
